Airbus’ most significant presence outside EU
Canada is our home
From British Columbia to Nova Scotia, Airbus and its thousands of employees have robust industrial activities in the country, covering the commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence and space sectors for more than 40 years.
Airbus is a positive factor for the Canadian economy: creating approximately 23,000 indirectly-sustained jobs in aerospace; working with more than 850 suppliers; and sourcing more than $2 billion CAD from Canadian companies.
In Canada, more than 4,500 people work at the ten sites and offices of Airbus and its subsidiaries, including over 4,000 in Quebec. The main production sites are the A220 commercial aircraft programme headquarters and Airbus Atlantic Canada, both in Mirabel, Quebec. Airbus Helicopters Canada in Fort Erie, Defence and Space Canada in Ottawa and NAVBLUE in Waterloo are located in Ontario. Other Airbus sites and subsidiaries are located in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Quebec.
A key Canadian economic footprint and further investments
Here to stay
From its first helicopter manufacturing facility in 1984 to the Defence and Space business unit and production of the A220 Family single-aisle aircraft, Airbus has a long-standing relationship with Canada.
The A220 Family transferred to Airbus’ stewardship in 2018 as these new-generation 100-150-seat aircraft were brought into the Airbus line-up. Recently, a PwC study revealed the economic impact of the A220 estimated at more than $ 40 billion CAD over 20 years in Canada.
