Airbus has been present in Brazil for more than 45 years through its three divisions, establishing a long-term commitment to the country. Its products and services contribute to the development of the local aerospace industry and to the country's strategic defence autonomy.
Airbus has played a major role in supporting the Brazilian aerospace industry by establishing the only turbine helicopter manufacturer in Latin America - Helibras - which is the market leader and offers first-class support and services, as well as the only H225/H225M full flight simulator in the Americas.
Airbus is also present with its products and services with over 55% of the commercial aircraft market share and more than 25 military aircraft in service in the country.

Commercial Aircraft in Brazil
Our products & services
Brazil is the top commercial aviation market for Airbus in Latin America, with over 55% market share. More than 200 Airbus aircraft are in service with the main airlines in Brazil, Azul and LATAM.
Additionally, the Brazilian Air Force operates an ACJ319.
In 2017, Airbus opened the Airbus Brazil Training Centre (ABTC) at Azul's corporate university, responding to demand for A320 services and flight and maintenance training. To date, more than 8,600 hours of training have been completed at the centre with an A320 Full flight simulator.
Helicopters in Brazil
Our products & services
Founded in 1978, Helibras represents Airbus' longstanding partnership with Brazilian society, with a presence spanning more than 45 years: the first AS350 Esquilo was produced in Brazil in 1976, and a historic technology transfer with the H225M production.
Helibras has delivered more than 850 helicopters in Brazil, of which approximately 700 are in-service. Being the market leader with 50% of the turbine helicopter fleet, eight out of ten helicopters operating in the parapublic segment were made by Helibras.
Today, Helibras employs more than 530 highly skilled people and is actively contributing to the national aerospace ecosystem by creating more than 3,000 indirect jobs.
Defence in Brazil
Our products & services
Airbus Defence and Space is a reliable, strategic partner for Brazil, with its long-standing C295 operations.
The Brazilian Armed Forces currently operate 26 military aircraft.
In 2017, the first Brazilian-operated C295 SAR completed a successful five-week, four-continent tour, showcasing its maritime patrol and search and rescue capabilities with 100% availability.
Airbus Defence and Space is proud that the Brazilian Air Force is the first in Latin America to operate the A330 MRTT.
Space in Brazil
Our products & services
SKY Brasil-1, the AT&T/DIRECTV telecommunications satellite, was successfully launched on an Ariane 5 rocket in 2017. It is the 44th spacecraft based on the Eurostar E3000 built by Airbus Defence and Space.
Since 2012, Airbus’ Pléiades and SPOT 6 & 7 satellites have mapped over 400 million square kilometres in Brazil.
Airbus is the top provider of high-resolution imagery for private and government users in Brazil, offering optical and radar imagery for sectors like environment, agriculture, mining, and defence.
Levelling up local partners and regional growth
Sustainability & environment
Airbus in Brazil has run five successful Discovery Space editions. The education programme
has benefited 500+ students in the city of Itajubá, where Helibras is based.
In 2022, Helibras Itajuba's facilities achieved 100% renewable energy certification.
Since 2022 Airbus and Helibras employees have volunteered their time and skills with TETO Brazil, to build transitional housing for impoverished families living in vulnerable communities in Latin America.
