Our presence in the region

Airbus has been present in Mexico for more than 40 years and has a long-term commitment to the development of the country's aerospace industry.

In Mexico, Airbus directly employs more than 650 people in its three divisions, generates more than 15,000 indirect jobs and spends more than $650 million annually through its supply chain. Through its industrial presence, Airbus is playing an important role in building industrial capacity in Mexico.

Airbus’ presence includes a Helicopter Customer Centre offering world-class maintenance, customer support, and pilot and technician training for over 400 helicopters in Mexico, the Caribbean and north of South America. The company also operates a training centre in Mexico City, which houses two A320 Full Flight Simulators. In addition, Airbus operates a manufacturing facility in Querétaro, producing emergency hatches and doors for the A320 Family, bulk cargo and cargo doors for widebody aircraft, and various subassemblies for Airbus Helicopters.

As part of Airbus Defence and Space, Airbus Public Safety and Security (PSS) offers advanced mobile communication solutions to collect, process, and deploy intelligence. Mexico plays a key role as the headquarters for PSS, supporting public agencies and enhancing emergency response and national security.

Airbus dominates Mexico's commercial aviation market with over 50% of the in-service fleet. Aerounion, Awesome Cargo, Mas Air, Volaris, and Viva together operate more than 230 Airbus aircraft

The Airbus Mexico Training Centre (AMTC) has two A320 Full Flight Simulators (FFS) and offers pilot-type rating, recurrent and maintenance training for the A320 Family.

In addition, NAVBLUE has conducted airworthiness and simultaneous operations studies for Mexico City International Airport (AICM), Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles (AIFA) and Toluca International Airport (TLC).

Our products & services

In Mexico, Airbus Helicopters is the leading manufacturer in the civil and parapublic market, with a fleet of more than 160 helicopters flying in the country.

Airbus has had a direct presence in Mexico since 1982 with helicopter facilities that provide customer support, maintenance, repair and overhaul services, as well as pilot and technician training.

From its facilities in Mexico, Airbus Helicopters supports its customers in the country as well as in Central America, the Caribbean, Ecuador, Colombia,  Guyana and Suriname.

Defence in Mexico

Mexico is the largest operator of Airbus military transport aircraft in Latin America, with more than 20 aircraft, including the latest C295 version. In 2017, Airbus inaugurated a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility at Santa Lucia Air Base.

Mexico is the Latin American headquarters of Airbus Defence and Space's Public Safety and Security (PSS) business, which provides advanced mobile communications solutions for intelligence gathering, processing and dissemination.

The Airbus Intelligence Programme line is also present in Mexico through a Direct Receiving Station (DRS) operated by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Environment & sustainability

Through the Airbus Foundation, the company has provided humanitarian aid to support the Mexican people during the COVID-19 pandemic, the aftermath of Hurricane Otis in 2023, and other crises. Airbus also has implemented Community Impact projects, including educational programmes such as Discovery Space, benefiting over 300 children, and reforestation activities.
