Airbus proposes an innovative approach to hiring based on the aptitudes of people with a disability
“Les rencontres de l’Haéro”, an innovative Employment Forum
Airbus in partnership with Cabinet HandiPro Conseil* and DIRECCTE** is organising an innovative employment forum in Toulouse – “Les rencontres de l’Haéro” – dedicated to hiring people with disabilities in the aeronautical sector.
It is because it is often difficult to establish a match between the needs expressed by the companies in this sector and the profiles of job-seekers with a disability, that Airbus and its partners have developed a new recruitment method based on examining the applicant’s potential, on their aptitudes (for example: dexterity, spatial vision, etc.) and no longer just on their experience and diplomas.
To achieve this, a library comprising more than 30 skills and aptitudes transferrable to the aeronautical professions has been set up on a web platform. Then, using an algorithm, the correspondence between the job offers and the applicants can easily be established. This library also includes the conditions in which the proposed work is carried out (environment, work postures, etc.) making it possible to describe the vacant position precisely and therefore to check the match with the applicant’s potential. In certain cases, training courses can also be proposed to the applicants.
Thanks to this new approach, this employment forum, which is being held at Airbus, has put around one hundred applicants in touch with some twenty companies working in the aeronautical sector. There are a variety of positions on offer both in the areas of production and of engineering, for operator, supervisory and managerial staff.
The companies working together in a collaborative way on putting the aptitudes library in place have the shared goal of hiring people with a disability: Airbus, AAA, Air Support Akka, Alten, Altran, Assystem, Ausy, CGI, Daher, Derichebourg Atis Aéro, Kuehne & Nagel, Nexeya, Sogeclair, Sogeti-Capgemini, Stélia, Trigo Qualitaire.
