What is your current role and where are you based?

I am currently working as a Cyber Security Architect and the Deputy Head of Digital Security Architecture. I am located in Ottobrunn, Germany.

How long have you been working at Airbus?

Time flies! I’ve been working for Airbus for almost 6 years now.

Which aircraft/products are you working with?

I am currently working on projects related to technology in Space, within the Galileo Programme for example. In the past, I have been working on military topics within the Eurofighter Programme for example.

What inspired you to be a part of the aerospace sector?

Besides having studied Computer Science, I have also obtained a degree in International Relations / Global Politics, which can be explained by my deep interest in contemporary geopolitics. Thus, working for a Defence and Space company aligns with my academic, personal and professional goals.

In my opinion, the future lies in space (exploration). As we pioneer humanity's next Border, it is essential to boost EU competitiveness to be able to fully harness space for a greener future on earth. Furthermore, in order to sustain democracy, as well as global peace, stability and security, the defense industry must contribute to a strong and proficient EU. Here, our military segment delivers the capabilities to do so.

Therefore, I believe that cyber security serves as an essential catalyst in achieving a secure development and deployment of our products on earth and in space.

Just be yourself - everyone else is already taken (Oscar Wilde). Meaning: Try to show up as your most authentic self. Everything else will make you unhappy in the long run.

Concerning the beginning of your career path at Airbus - what was the main drive that led you to apply and be part of this company?

I have always had a profound academic interest in technology, as well as the field of politics and cyberwarfare. As such it was important for me to work in a company which develops products that contribute to national sovereignty and security but also foster Europe’s strategic autonomy, as well as intergovernmental military alliances such as NATO. Thus, Airbus was the perfect match!

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Firstly - The people! I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many kind and smart people. We all come together to work towards a common mission and vision: Namely to improve and protect life on Earth and beyond.

Secondly - Working in Cyber Security, since it is an exciting, dynamic and challenging field, specially suited for people who never cease to learn and who like to keep abreast of technological trends.

Lastly - As a security architect, you also get to be involved in a plethora of different projects, which is definitely challenging and exciting in equal measure.

Tell us about one of the most memorable experiences from your career at Airbus. What made it so special and unforgettable?

There are so many of them, so it is impossible to choose one, but during my career at Airbus I was able to see the A350 FAL, sit in a Eurofighter simulator and visit multiple clean rooms for telecommunication and earth observation satellite systems - such as for the GALILEO and MISTRAL program. All of these allow me to take pride in my work.

What has been one of the most empowering moments at Airbus?

To be recognized and selected as an Airbus talent and join a group of equally talented women. Often women are pitted against one another, seeing each other as competition or threat instead of allies. Thus, I am glad that I can be part of a community of women who lift each other up and understand that you can be kind and celebrate each other’s success without dimming your own light.

Don’t shy away from working in a male dominated environment. We need more women who dare to dream big, who are breaking biases and blazing trails - you could be the next one and inspire someone!

What are the benefits of working at Airbus?

Well of course working with a company that pioneers sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world, which employs some of the most brilliant minds, which spans the whole globe and lastly which develops products that are truly fascinating!

In what way do the values of Airbus relate to your own?

The Airbus values directly translate into my private life and I have some great people around me that hold me to these standards. I am blessed with amazing friends and family who live their life with integrity, treat other people respectfully and whom I can always rely on.

Do you have any hobbies? How do you enjoy spending your free time?

Where do I even begin! I love the outdoors since I grew up with the alps right on my doorstep and thus love being active outside (hiking, trekking, SUPing, biking, inline skating, tennis etc.). Being raised multiculturally and as a multilingual speaker, I’ve always enjoyed learning new languages as well as traveling and immersing myself in new cultures around the globe. I play the piano and have started learning the guitar recently. Furthermore, I pride myself in finding the cutest café gems and stylish eateries! As I love a proper morning workout, you can usually find me in the gym at 5am. Moreover, I enjoy reading geopolitical books and the occasional novel, as well as channeling my inner creativity through photography, painting and interior design. Thus, if I had to describe myself in one sentence I would say: Jack of all trades, master of some :)
