It is with profound sadness that we learn the passing of Pierre Pailleret, former Sales Director of Airbus Industrie, at the age of 80 on December 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered in the aviation industry.

A distinguished graduate of the ESCP business school in Paris, Pierre Pailleret began working at Airbus in the early 1970s. Over the course of his career, he held several key roles, including Director of Sales Financing and Commercial Director of Airbus Industrie from 1975 to 1986. His leadership was critical in driving Airbus’s expansion, particularly in North America, where he played a central role in securing major contracts with Eastern Airlines in 1978 and Pan Am in 1984. These agreements, which introduced the A300 and A310 to American airlines and passengers, were pivotal moments that solidified Airbus's presence in the competitive North American market.

After his time at Airbus, Pierre Pailleret continued to contribute to the aviation sector through aircraft leasing and consulting. His expertise and influence remained highly valued in the industry. In recognition of his contributions, Pierre Pailleret was honored with the title of Knight in the French "Ordre du Mérite."

Airbus pays tribute to Pierre Pailleret’s legacy and addresses its sincere condolences to his family.
