Meet Chong

My role as a Design Integrator requires me to collect all the technical data from different design offices that would be needed to update and create a service bulletin, analyze the data and transform them into standard forms which could be read by SB author and SB approvers. And as a SB Author, I will complete the SB authoring in accordance with the technical inputs, as well as technical publication standards. This is interesting as I get to see through the complete process.

Chong shared the possibility and opportunities to expand his knowledge and expertise in the field of engineering was the reason he joined Airbus, “I would never imagine I would have the opportunity to work on what I am currently doing and beyond. The degree of freedom gave me the opportunity to do so.”

On top of his current scope, Chong is also nominated as a Knowledge Management Representative in his team. “My manager saw my passion and potential in learning and summarizing from our day-to-day interactions and assigned me this role to consolidate working experience, share them with teammates and assist the team with problems they face at work.” As a Knowledge Management Representative, Chong has already created and updated several guidance documents which benefit not only the newcomers, but also helped the team as a whole to increase the accuracy and efficiency. He also had the chance to use certain tools which he would normally not be exposed to during his normal course of work, to solve problems raised by his colleagues. In this short span of close to a year, Chong has held two knowledge and skill sharing sessions for newcomers and implemented several solutions for the team.

“I enjoy the training provided by Airbus. The training I have attended in the past was more instructor-led, and the recent Safety training I have attended was conducted with some game elements to help us to be more familiar with the rules.” Chong enjoys the energetic and fun environment and culture of Airbus which can be felt throughout the entire organization. “On my first day, I was already invited by my team members to join the badminton team and we play together on a weekly basis. There is also a gym within the facility which is open to all employees. Out of office hours, we plan get-together sessions which helps to create a stronger bond with each other.” At Airbus, we believe teamwork is vital for success and We are One is strongly embedded into our culture.

Looking back from his application process to one year later celebrating his first work anniversary with Airbus, Chong shared what he experienced and thought about Airbus back then still stands true. “During the interview, it was not solely on my technical competencies. The interviewers were also interested to know me as a person like my hobbies and interests which creates a sense of closeness. If you ask me what I would like to share with people who are keen to join Airbus, it would be these three points: we are like a big family, you will be given opportunities to learn from different functions depending on your interest, and everything is possible!”
