What is your current role and where are you based? How long have you been working at Airbus?
I'm based in Toulouse and currently manage two roles. As an expert in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) for Multiphysics Frameworks, I contribute to the digital transformation of data management in engineering. As System Architect of a SAFe ART (Agile Release Train) of approximately 80 transnational and cross-functional developers, I define the architecture visionto ensure its alignment with the overall digital transformation strategy. I joined Airbus in 2006, so 17 years ago. For my first 15 years at Airbus, I mainly worked as an M&T (Methods & Tools) engineer and gained experience developing methods and tools for aerodynamics before moving on to flight physics. I recently left the Flight Physics team to join D&IM (Digital & Information Management) for the opportunity to become an expert and lead the digital transformation of the engineering data lifecycle.
Concerning the beginning of your career path at Airbus, what was the main drive that led you to apply and be part of this company?
During my studies, I specialized in Computational Fluid Dynamics for its perfect combination of mathematical modeling, software development, and its applicability to the aircraft industry - all my passions in one! My interest in the aerospace sector is what led me to Airbus. As soon as I got the opportunity to join the company, the whole family, including my parents, followed me from Paris to Toulouse!
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
There are so many things. First of all, I really enjoy the visibility and the challenges of my role. The digital transformation of Airbus data management is a top priority, and as there is a lot at stake, I am always kept on my toes. I am also excited by the most state-of-the-art technologies we use, such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) Managed Services, data mesh architecture, etc. And finally, I really enjoy the highly motivated people and teams around me!
What have been some of the most empowering moments at Airbus?
My most empowering moment was when I was nominated to be an expert last year. It was something I had been seeking for quite some time, so I was over the moon when I received the nomination.
Why did you choose the expert path?
Technology is my engine, which is why I chose the expert career path. I can truly influence strategic orientations in the digital transformation of data management to meet the company’s objectives for data continuity, compliance and quality. I must say, I'm quite proud of the maturity of our product vision, the rapidity in going from a concept to its implementation in a SAFe ART, and above all, the growing engagement of the business along this journey.
Tell us about one of the most memorable experiences from your career at Airbus. What made it so special and unforgettable?
My most memorable experience is not the best one, but paradoxically the most constructive for my career path. On my very first day at Airbus, the project I was hired for was canceled! Not very comfortable as you can imagine. Fortunately, with the support of my new team, I had the chance to redefine my aspirations and find a job opportunity in Aerodynamics M&T where everything really started for me.
Do you have any hobbies that you are interested in? How do you enjoy spending your free time?
My first engine is technology, my second is sports. My motto is "ASICS" (Anime Sana In Corpore Sano), which in Latin means “a healthy soul in a healthy body” - a bit pompous I admit, but also inspiring... I'm running, swimming, cycling almost every day, and often as a family. Sports are an essential part of my work-life balance and an education pillar for my two kids.
