India’s strength lies in its talent, with the presence of perhaps the largest engineers and Information Technology partner ecosystems in the world. We are leveraging these factors to contribute to our global programmes. For us, India is a base, a strategic resource hub for emerging technologies, world-class talent and research and development that powers the aerospace sector.
Commercial Aircraft
With the A320 Family being a prominent choice of the Indian market and making Delhi the world’s busiest A320 airport, Airbus has forged ahead from sending A300 twin-aisle aircraft to India about 50 years ago. Airbus has witnessed the development of the Indian aerospace sector and is working with Indian suppliers and innovators and sharing expertise in training and services. The recent landmark deal with Air India for the acquisition of 40 next generation A350 aircraft will write a new chapter for the country’s air-connectivity.
Helicopters
Airbus has been leading the domestic and para-public helicopter market and was the first foreign Original Equipment Manufacturer to set up a customer centre for the Indian market. Moving to the future we are developing a new market segments in India such as Helicopters Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), Power Transmission lines stringing, security etc.
Defence and Space
The Airbus Defence and Space comprises of Military Aircraft, Space Systems, and Connected Intelligence. We support India’s military modernisation and in developing the defence manufacturing ecosystem. Airbus has collaborated with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and has been working with the Indian Space Research organisation and with its commercial arm Antrix/NewSpace India Ltd.

Information Management Centre
The Information Management centre established as a global capability centre in Bengaluru with the vision of building the Information Management Systems to support all the divisions worldwide. The IM centre in India is built to cater to the needs of differently abled employees. The IM centre is the backbone of the Airbus’ Digital Transformation.
Customer services
The South Asian customer service teams are set up in India, Seychelles, Nepal, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh and Bhutan. In India, the team of more than 150 members is based on New Delhi and Bengaluru provide customer support, field service, multi-programme support, tailored support programme, quality management, and maintenance and flight training services and business development. We covers Airbus’ fully owned subsidiaries – Satair for spare parts distribution and Navblue for flight operations services.
Engineering and Innovation
The Airbus India Engineering centre was established in 2007 in Bengaluru and now has grown exponentially, with strength of more than 700 engineers. It is the backbone which support all the three divisions - Commercial, Defence and Space and Helicopters. The team also provides solutions for Flight Physics, Airframe, Systems, Flight Test and propulsion, supports customer services, design cycles, manufacturing engineering and some Airbus subsidiaries.
Community Engagement
Airbus supports corporate social responsibility activities to have a positive impact on the local communities. Education, healthcare, employability, underprivileged, and women empowerment are the key sectors in which we extend our support. We support programmes such as Christel House, Swanthana, Smile Foundation, and SGBS Unnati Foundation.
