Use of AI in recruitment
Our guidance to candidates on how to use AI in your application

What we're looking for in applications
Our focus
We would encourage you to use AI tools only during the drafting and initial stages of creating your covering letter and CV. AI can be quite helpful for:
- Creating initial drafts and looking at different ways of phrasing things;
- Spotting keywords that are relevant to the role and the industry;
- Tidying up your writing in terms of clarity and grammar;
- Getting your CV and covering letter structured nicely; and,
- Brainstorming examples from your experience that fit the job requirements.
However, it's important to bear in mind that our recruitment process is all about your unique skills, experiences, and points of view. We're looking to recruit you – your individual talents, your ability to think things through, and your genuine voice.
So, while we think it's a good idea to use AI as a helping hand in the preparation stages, we'd prefer it if the final version of your application reflects your own original work and truly shows off your personal capabilities.

Effective uses of AI
Some examples
Generating first drafts
Using AI to create an initial version of your covering letter or a section of your CV to get you started.
Keyword identification
Asking AI to suggest relevant keywords based on the job description to ensure your application aligns with what we're looking for.
Improving clarity and grammar
Using AI tools to proofread your writing and suggest improvements to sentence structure and word choice.
Brainstorming examples
Asking AI to help you think of examples from your past experience that demonstrate specific skills mentioned in the job description.
Structuring documents
Using AI to help you organise the different sections of your CV or covering letter in a logical and effective way.
Not-so-good uses of AI
These are the ways that we would rather you did not use AI when applying for a role at Airbus
Submitting AI generated responses as your own
Copying and pasting large chunks of AI-written text without significant personal input for your final covering letter or CV.
Using AI to answer interview questions
Relying on AI during a live interview (whether spoken or written) to generate your responses – we want to hear your own thoughts and how you think on your feet.
Creating entirely generic applications
Using AI to produce a completely generic covering letter that does not specifically address Airbus or the role.
Fabricating experiences
Prompting AI to invent skills or experiences that you don't actually possess.
Reliance on AI for tone and voice
Allowing AI to dictate the entire tone and style of your application, resulting in a lack of your own personality coming through.
